Background

Spectacom Global, the company behind the Devils Circuit obstacle race and The Yoddha Race fitness competition, has appointed former Monks India managing director Robert Godinho as co-founder to expand its participative sports business in India and overseas.

Godinho most recently led content operations at Monks (Media.Monks) India. He will work with Spectacom founders Adnan Adeeb and Zeba Zaidi to grow the company’s fitness and participative sports portfolio as fitness racing gains traction across India.

Spectacom’s events have drawn more than 500,000 participants, and its ecosystem spans over 12 Indian cities. Godinho said that when organizers ask people whether they want to participate, instead of whether they are good enough to compete, the audience grows many times over. He added that participative sports are moving beyond single events toward communities built on lasting engagement.

Godinho founded creative studio WhiteBalance, which merged with S4 Capital’s Media.Monks in 2020. At Monks, he ran large-scale production systems, virtual production infrastructure and creative technology. Spectacom expects his skills in storytelling, technology and team building to power its next growth phase.

Adeeb said bringing in a former founder as co-founder shows the company’s drive to make participative sport a way of life in India.

Devils Circuit is a 5-km course with 15 military-style obstacles, with more than 82 editions and participants from over 50 countries. The Yoddha Race blends distance running with functional strength stations, and The GOAT Run, billed as India’s first team running race, comes next.
