Recalling the early stages of her professional career, she shared, “Embarking on my professional journey as a clinician in some of Eastern India’s most prestigious hospitals, I never imagined the transformative path that awaited me.” A pivotal moment came in 2003 when she transitioned to clinical research at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. This decision marked a bold departure from the traditional roles assumed by most doctors, setting her on a unique trajectory filled with pioneering contributions to global drug development, medical operations, and scientific writing.
While her professional accomplishments in clinical research are significant, her passion for literature has always been a guiding force in her life. “Beyond my professional pursuits, my heart has always been captivated by the world of literature,” she noted. From composing poetry as a student to publishing her debut collection, SAND DUNES, in 2001, Dr. Roy has made a lasting impression on the global literary scene. Her participation in the 2005 World Poetry Festival in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where she engaged in a dialogue on ‘Nature and Harmony,’ stands as a testament to her contributions to the literary world.
Her works have transcended cultural and linguistic boundaries, with translations in Greek and Taiwanese. “As an accomplished poet, author, and critic, my poetry has been published globally in journals such as Poet, World Poetry, and Metverse Muse,” she said. A critic of note, her review of Dr Daisaku Ikeda’s work showcased her deep understanding of literature’s role in fostering peace and harmony.
Dr. Roy’s latest literary accomplishment, the self-published short story collection, Petals That Breathe: Secret Journeys of Inadequacies and Outcomes That Could Have Been Otherwise, marks a new chapter in her creative journey. These stories offer nuanced glimpses into relationships, social pressures, and inner conflicts—lived experiences rarely discussed yet widely felt. Her narrative voice is persuasive, encouraging readers to question, relate to, and reflect on the stories, thereby making the experience both educational, inspiring, and touching.
Another is a self-published non-fiction book, “Finding My Soulmate – A Mindful Search: A Practical Guide with Lessons, Laughs, Questions and Lightbulb moments”. This one takes you on a journey with a woman who mindfully navigates the complexities and eccentricities of human nature in search of her soulmate.
“It symbolizes another evolution in my narrative—a testament to exploring societal nuances and human emotions through fiction and non-fiction,” she reflected. Her literary journey has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Author Award 2024 and the Voice Award 2024 by the India Authors Academy. “As I look forward to future endeavours, my aim remains steadfast: to inspire, influence, and contribute, whether through advancing science or weaving stories that resonate with the human spirit,” she said.

My father taught me patience and perseverance,” she says. These early influences shaped her worldview, where success is never accidental but is built on discipline and vision.
