Nissan to Create Thousands of Jobs by Expanding its Battery Production

Nissan

The auto mobile giant Nissan can make a major expansion of battery production in its Sunderland manufacturing. This decision will create thousands of new jobs directly as well as in the supply chain.

Nissan already is manufacturing its electric car model Leaf in Sunderland and may announce a new updated electric model in future.

As per the report, the government is also contributing to this expansion’s overall cost, and that would be hundreds of millions. Well, the precise amount of government’s part has not been disclosed.

Last year, the UK government put a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 that fuelled the future of electric cars in UK and Nissan seemed to support the decision.

It is expected that this new facility will be a match for Renault’s new facility which has announced in Douai, France. Renault is a major stakeholder in Nissan and also a major partner in a global manufacturing alliance.

Due to economic slowdown, the car production in UK has fallen to its lowest point since 1984. Nissan has become the major manufacturer in the British auto sector after beating Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).
