Background

India will feature as the Official AI Partner Country at VivaTech 2026 when the technology conference opens in the third week of June in Paris, positioning itself as a major destination for artificial intelligence investment, infrastructure and enterprise deployment.

The India Trade Promotion Organisation is leading India’s participation, with support from the Ministry of Commerce, MeitY, DPIIT and the Ministry of Education. The event, held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, is expected to draw more than 180,000 visitors from over 170 countries.

India’s presence is tied to the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. The India Pavilion will bring together government officials, investors, industry leaders and startups under a “Tech For Humanity” theme, centred on inclusion, public services and large-scale digital access.

India is using its Digital Public Infrastructure as a core part of its pitch. Systems such as UPI and Aadhaar offer examples of population-scale platforms supporting payments, identity and public service delivery. The collaboration between A Z47, OpenAI and Zinnov revealed that 95% of Indian organisations have integrated AI into their workflow, even though they differ in terms of maturity.

India’s efforts to develop data centres also contribute to its bid for AI supremacy. As per CBRE, India’s data centre power will surpass the 3 GW mark in 2028. Google has also announced a planned AI hub near Visakhapatnam, reported as a $15 billion project involving gigawatt-scale data centre operations and supporting infrastructure.

At VivaTech, attention will focus on whether India can convert its market scale and talent base into concrete partnerships across AI infrastructure, enterprise deployment and compute access.
