American automaker, Ford Motor Company revealed in an announcement of securing 60GWh of battery cells to support the production of massive 6,00,000 electric vehicles by end of 2023.
This is a part of its plan of building 1.4 million EVs by 2026. Ford has arranged for more than 70% of the raw materials for 2 million EVs in its global plan for the same year.
Jim Farley, Ford’s president and CEO and president of Ford Model e said “Ford’s new electric vehicle line-up has generated huge enthusiasm and demand, and now we are putting the industrial system in place to scale quickly,”
Ford mentioned about its plan for the year 2023 will include 150,000 e-Transit vans for North America and Europe, 150,000 F-150 Lightnings for North America, and 270,000 Mustang Mach-Es for North America, Europe, and China respectively.
In addition to this, Ford will launch an additional electric SUV in Europe, manufacturing 30,000 in 2023 before scaling up the production in 2024.
Jim said, “Our Model e team has moved with speed, focus, and creativity to secure the battery capacity and raw materials we need to deliver breakthrough EVs for millions of customers.”
