Background:

Scottish hospitality group Buzzworks has reported an 8.4% increase in revenue, reaching £37.3 million for the 53 weeks ending 4 May 2025, up from £34.4 million the previous year. While underlying EBITDA fell slightly to £3.32 million from £3.77 million, last year’s figure benefited from one-off insurance income.

The group has continued its commitment to investing in venues and staff, with £2.4 million spent across new and existing sites. Buzzworks opened Lido Musselburgh in December 2024 and a new Herringbone in Barnton in May 2025. They also renovated Lido Prestwick and The Longhouse in Kilmarnock.

The company has trained its staff to help them grow into future leaders and improved its systems and technology to support expansion.

Mr Blair said that the company’s revenue growth shows the hard work of its staff and the support of its customers. Even with rising costs, the business continues to perform well and invest in its venues and team.

He also highlighted the importance of hospitality to Scotland’s economy, supporting jobs, supply chains, and thriving town centres, while calling for a non-domestic rates system that better supports industry investment.

Buzzworks has managed rising costs by getting better deals, controlling expenses, and setting prices carefully, while keeping high standards. It also became Scotland’s first multi-venue hospitality company to achieve B Corp certification and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Best Companies to Work For in the UK.

Looking ahead, Buzzworks plans to use the backing from Alchemy Partners to enhance its estate, strengthen its platform, and accelerate expansion, including venues with accommodation.
