Broadcom Inc. has announced the launch of its next-generation unified Wi-Fi 8 platform, designed to support seamless, AI-driven experiences in homes. The platform uses a powerful processor and advanced Wi-Fi 8 radios to deliver smooth, AI-driven experiences for users.

At the centre of the platform is the newly introduced BCM4918 accelerated processing unit (APU). The chip brings together high-performance computing, networking, security, and AI acceleration on a single system-on-chip. Broadcom said the APU is built to handle demanding workloads created by real-time, AI-based applications running directly at the network edge.

Broadcom has also launched two new dual-band Wi-Fi 8 chipsets, the BCM6714 and BCM6719. These chips combine 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios in one design, making hardware simpler and more power-efficient while boosting performance. They can monitor networks in real time and send data to AI models at the edge to improve user experience and security.

Broadcom said the Wi-Fi 8 platform helps operators and device makers provide faster speeds, lower delays, and more reliable connections. On-device AI improves features like seamless roaming, congestion control, and coordination between access points. This lets networks adjust automatically to changing conditions and stay up longer.

The company added that the platform supports tri-band Wi-Fi 8 when combined with its previously released BCM6718 radio, covering 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. This setup enables intelligent bandwidth use, predictive maintenance, and self-healing network behaviour, while also reducing power consumption.

Broadcom said early samples of the BCM4918 APU and the new Wi-Fi 8 devices are now available to select customers and partners. The company believes the platform will help service providers meet growing demand for secure, high-performance, and energy-efficient home networks as AI use continues to expand.
