Apple on Monday announced its plan to open a new campus in Raleigh, North Carolina. It has announced to spend over $1 billion on the new proposed campus. This campus will employ at least 3,000 people working on technology like software engineering and machine learning etc.
Apple’s most engineering operations have been based in its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The proposed 3,000 employee campus is an indication of Apple’s ongoing expansion beyond its headquarters. Its another $1 billion campus is anticipated to open next year in Austin, Texas.
Apple’s expansion of new campus will be located in the Research Triangle Area of North Carolina. With this continued expansion, the organization is creating new and long-term job opportunities in North Carolina. With this, it has also joined other technology companies from Silicon Valley that are expanding their presence outside the Bay Area to gain access to a large pool of resourceful engineering talent.
Apple also said on Monday that it will rapidly expand in other cities as well where it has engineering operations. It plans to employ a good number of people in newer locations. In total, Apple plans to add at least 20,000 jobs to the US market over the period of the next five years.
Besides, Apple will continue its presence in Silicon Valley. At Silicon Valley, the organization has 25,000 employees, including 12,000 employees in its headquarters. Last year Apple declared that it has a total of 1,47,000 full-time employees, which also includes retail workers.
