Apple to Re-close More Stores in U.S.

As Coronavirus cases starting to rise, Apple Inc said it would close more than two dozen stores across seven states starting Thursday, including its home state California, which will eventually bring the number of total closures to 77.

Wednesday the company announced, it will close stores in states like; Georgia, Alabama, Nevada, Idaho, Oklahoma and Louisiana, the announcement came in the wake of already closed stores in states like Utah, Florida, Mississippi, and Texas. When it comes to opening and closing stores, Apple has taken a state by state approach mostly by evaluating for each community. According to the company, it requires face coverings for its employees and customers, while frequent temperature checks and cleanings have been mandated.

Thanks to this approach, some stores remain open, while others are now closed in the same state.

As an example, in California, many Los Angeles area stores will be closed from Thursday, due to the sudden rise in Coronavirus cases, while San Francisco’s flagship store will remain open. Also, in Texas, stores located in Austin had remained open till this week, whereas stores in Houston were closed.

The Cupertino based company closed all of its stores outside Mainland China in March, and not all of the stores in U.S. were re-opened after the initial closers. However, the company has said, its employees will be continued to be paid even during the closures.
